The Shimano CN-M8100 is a 12-speed chain built for Shimano's modern 12-speed systems — XT M8100, Ultegra R8100, GRX RX820, and XTR M9100 — using SIL-TEC low-friction plating and an asymmetric link design matched to Shimano's Hyperglide+ tooth profiles.

It ships with 116 links, suited to most road, gravel, and short-stay hardtail setups, and includes a matching Shimano SM-CN910-12 quick-link for tool-free installation.

Why Buy Local

Drivetrain parts like this are easy to get wrong on compatibility if you're not certain — buying locally means you can confirm fitment before you order. Genuine Shimano stock, already in Kenya, ready to ship the same day.

FAQ

Does the chain have a specific installation direction?

Yes — the CN-M8100 uses an asymmetric outer/inner plate design. When looking at the drive side, the side stamped "Shimano" and "M8100" should face outward toward you. Installing it backward degrades shifting and increases wear.

Can I reuse the quick-link after removing it?

No — Shimano specifies the SM-CN910-12 quick-link as single-use. Opening it with master link pliers deforms the internal retention gates, so always fit a fresh quick-link when reassembling.
