This is a monumental upgrade in drivetrain technology. While both models utilize the exact same wind-tunnel-proven Advanced-grade carbon frameset, the Propel Advanced 2 uses mechanical shifting with steel cables that stretch over time. The Propel Advanced 1 upgrades you to a full 2x12 wireless electronic drivetrain.

Giant engineered this generation of the Propel with user-friendly mechanical practicality in mind. Unlike older aero bikes that required routing cables directly through the handlebar core and wrapping them tightly around the fork steerer, the Propel uses a clever split-channel system under the Contact SL Aero stem. The hydraulic brake lines slide into a guided slot beneath the stem before entering the frame.
